Preventing Rosacea

Everyone would like to have clean, clear and natural looking skin. Clear skin is the mark of a healthy person. However, for those that suffer from the skin condition called rosacea, clear skin is just a dream. When you suffer from rosacea, the small blood vessels under your skin dilate causing red, irritated and bumpy skin. The severity of rosacea does vary from person to person, but one thing is certain, if you have rosacea, you will do whatever you can do make sure your flare ups stay at a minimum.

Most doctors and dermatologists will tell you that there is something that you can do about your flareups when you have rosacea.  You can prevent rosacea outbreaks by following a few general guidelines, and by determining what kind of triggers affects your rosacea. Every case of rosacea is different and every person is different.  When you suffer from rosacea, you need to understand what affects your skin and what you can do to maintain a clean and clear complexion.  Here are some common things that many rosacea patients do to prevent outbreaks.

Watch what you eat:

Not everybody that suffers from rosacea finds food to be a problem, however a large majority of rosacea patients do find that some foods triggers outbreaks.  If you suffer from rosacea, then you should avoid foods that will cause your flareups to worsen.  These can include spicy or hot news, some dairy products such as sour cream and yogurt, liver, citrus fruits, and foods that contain histamines.  You will also want to make sure that you keep your body hydrated by drinking plenty of fluids and avoiding alcohol and hot beverages. Hot chocolate coffee and tea may also trigger flare-ups and for some people caffeine can also be a problem.

Moisturize your skin:

Almost everybody that suffers from rosacea will tell you that their skin on their face is dry and itchy.  Find a good hypoallergenic and fragrance free moisturizer and use it at least twice a day.  Make sure you shop around for a good moisturizer that will not exacerbate your rosacea problems. For example moisturizers that contained a lot of fragrance, dyes, coloring or artificial ingredients may make your rosacea worse.

Get your doctor’s advice:

Of course, one of the best things that you can do to prevent your rosacea from getting worse is to make sure that you get your doctors advise. Your doctor or dermatologist is an excellent source for information when it comes to your rosacea outbreaks.  He or she can recommend the proper treatment for your condition.  This will also ensure that you receive the right treatment so that your rosacea does not progress.  Your doctor can also give you an oral or topical antibiotic to help treat the pustules that often form in more severe cases of rosacea outbreaks.  You want to make sure that you always tell your doctor about your medical history and any prescription drugs you may be taking so that he or she can understand your rosacea.

High Cholesterol Symptoms

High cholesterol usually do not show any symptoms of itself even when a person does have high cholesterol. Rather, high cholesterol levels are often found out through regular medical checkups with our doctors through the blood test. The next best possible way for one to have a hunch that he is having high cholesterol is when health problems such as heart diseases or stroke begin to surface.

Coronary Heart Disease

Chest pain, or medically known as Angina, is the primary symptom associated with coronary heart disease which a patient may suffer due to high cholesterol. Angina is very much felt by the person suffering from it. It can be described like a pressing on the chest, or a tight squeeze around the chest. It is as if another person is sitting on your chest, causing it to be pressurized. Though the initial and most frequent part of the body that would be affected is the pressure feeling on the chest, these symptoms can actually spread to other parts of the body; the jaw, neck and even your arms. In certain cases, patients feel pressure in some other parts of their body but not their chest.

Besides feeling pain in the chest, people suffering from coronary heart disease may also exhibit signs of shortness of breath, feeling nausea, experience huge amount of sweating and lightheadedness. Chest pains should not be taken lightly as it is most likely to be directly related to coronary heart disease. Victims to coronary heart disease should avoid having a large meal or be too overly excited as they can turn out to become fatal. Rather, when you are experiencing chest pains, you should stop whatever you are doing and have a short rest. If these symptoms are continuous, it would be best to pay your doctor a visit.

Stroke

High cholesterol often causes arteriosclerosis, where a plague clogs up an artery like a drain and prevents blood from flowing freely through the arteries. In the worst case scenario, the plague in these arteries hardens and opposes blood flow, causing blood to clot at the point where it is being obstructed from flowing. In such a scenario, there is a possibility that the artery will burst, resulting in a stroke.

There is almost no warning to when a stroke is going to occur but it often happens after dizziness is felt, or there is sudden confusion where there is a difficulty in speech and understanding. When a stroke happens, it is highly likely a person would lose function in a part of their body, or even be paralyzed for life.

Heart disease is among the top killers in many countries, especially in the United States, where it is a known fact that it is the top killer for both men and women. Almost 500,000 Americans pass on due to heart diseases and many more suffer heart attacks every year. Scientifically, doctors have agreed on a consensus, the higher a person’s cholesterol level, the higher their level of heart disease.

Emotion Freedom Technique Allergies

One of the most powerful applications of the emotional freedom technique is to heal allergies. It can be used to reduce sensitivities to food as well as all sorts of other allergies – if in doubt, try your EFT tapping routine!

Headaches, bellyaches and upsets as well as diarrhea are all common allergic reactions. They make life unpleasant and foods and substances we are allergic to can often be so difficult to avoid that they make life really difficult. They are certainly worth trying EFT healing on.

There are several ways in which EFT tapping technique can be used to heal allergies. If you are in the midst of an allergic reaction, you can tap for each of your specific symptoms like the stomachache, runny nose or itchy eyes. You should soon start to see their intensity diminish.

If you know what you are allergic to, you can of course tap for that too. You can use the EFT tapping technique for that either whilst you have an allergic reaction or at any other time. It will still work as your tapping intuitively ‘speaks’ to your energy flow along your meridians. Blockages will be healed and your energy will flow freely, so you can cope happily with things that you were once even violently allergic to.

It is most effective to tap for your allergy before you are in a situation where you know you will probably be faced with the source of your allergy.  For instance if you are going to be attending a party where there will be food served, use your EFT technique to tap for your allergy beforehand.

Use a set up phrase which refers to your particular allergen and the specific reaction which it causes you; for instance, you might say,

“Even though I am allergic to shrimp and they really make my skin itchy and cause me a rash, I still like and accept myself.”

The acceptance is important. Remember, the basis of all healing is self-acceptance.

It’s not essential to know what past emotional trauma has blocked your energy, causing this problem to manifest itself in an allergy, but if you do happen to be able to uncover the reason for your allergy, you can tap for that too; almost always a traumatic event in your past like you being embarrassed because you fell over on the shingle as you ate shrimp at your first beach BBQ when you were four. If you can find out an emotional reason like this for allergy, tap for that embarrassment or whatever negative emotion was felt at the time too and give your allergy a double-whammy of a healing therapy.

You can also help someone else having an allergic reaction. You can perform a surrogate EFT tapping technique by tapping on yourself whilst saying the phrases linked to the other person’s allergy:

“Even though __(their name)__ is having an allergy attack to (whatever they are having an allergy attack to)….”

And so on, just as you would use EFT to heal your own allergy. EFT is a really powerful and effective way to overcome allergies so that you never have to think about them again.

Full Body Detox

Who doesn’t want to have a clean and healthy body? Many of us aim for this goal, which is why we go through diet programs, exercise routines, and have ourselves pampered in spas. Having a clean body inside and out ensures us of a disease-free and longer life. One of the ways by which total internal cleansing can be achieved is through detoxification.

Detoxification is one the most effective measures to cleanse the body. It is the process of removing toxic substances and excreting them through body fluids. These toxins, which include various chemicals like food preservatives, pollutants and the like, have harmful effects in the body. We can get them from the water we drink and the food we eat. We also could acquire these toxins from the air that we breathe. The natural detoxifiers within our bodies process these toxins in the liver and kidneys excreting them in the form of sweat, urine, and feces. But if the body becomes overwhelmed with all these toxic substances, beware and listen. Our natural body detox system might be crying for help.

Our natural body detox system can’t do the body cleansing alone. We have to help in maintaining a clean and healthy body. Here is some advice for effective detoxification and maintaining a healthy lifestyle.

BE WISE. If you don’t want toxic build up in your body then go for a non-toxic lifestyle. This means giving up preservative-rich foods that you usually take. Yes, those are the stuff we enjoy eating but the over consumption of which is not good. This also means changing your diet. Drink a lot of fluids, especially water and fruit juices. Also, take as much vegetables and fresh fruits and avoid foods and drinks that contain caffeine, sugar, alcohol, and preservatives. It pays to be wise in choosing the food we eat.

BE ORGANIZED. Have a plan. People who do the detox diet usually do a weekend fasting. It is good to start on a Friday or on a day when you wouldn’t be doing activities that require much energy. It is better if you do it gradually so that the body could adjust well. Be sure to make a diet that you can follow. Don’t do it without thinking. Make a plan and be organized. Don’t forget to consult your doctor!

BE SWEATY. Appreciate nature. Go outdoors and feel the fresh air. Take a walk to appreciate the world around you. The fresh air can do great things for your lungs and blood circulation. Exercise regularly to improve your body’s resistance. You can also try yoga and other things that will keep you energized and keep you moving on.

HAVE A BREAK. Don’t be a workaholic. Have time for yourself. Go to the spa and shed off those dead skin cells. Rubbing the skin also improves blood circulation. Watch out also for the foods that you take in. Fiber rich foods, tea and other herbs are good. They can help in aiding the bowel movement. In this way, the possibility of toxins being absorbed by the body lessens.

SMILE. Be optimistic. Get rid of all those negative thoughts. Remember that negative thoughts can stress you out, which become added toxins in the body. Smile always and stay happy. Have a sound mind and a sound body.

Cleansing the body is not hard, may it be inside or outside. It just needs discipline and commitment. Don’t just start things out, finish them. Always keep in mind that detoxification is not meant to take away enjoyment from you. In fact, the main requirement of detoxification is for you to enjoy, be alive and happy.

Symptoms Of Multiple Sclerosis

There can be various symptoms of the disease, Multiple Sclerosis (MS). The main signs and symptoms are: hypoesthesia, which is changes in sensation, muscle weakness, abnormal muscle spasms, difficulty in movement, difficulty with coordination or balance, speech difficulties (dysarthria), difficulty swallowing (dysphagia), vision problems, fatigue, pain, bladder and bowel issues, sexual dysfunction, depression and cognitive impairment. Symptoms can vary from mild to severe.

Attacks of symptoms are mild, possibly asymptomatic and self-limiting initially and may not even prompt the individual to see a physician. They may not be identified as being related to MS until the diagnosis phase. The most common initial signs of MS are: changes in sensation in the arms, legs or face, complete or partial vision loss, muscle weakness, double vision, an unsteady gait, and balance issues.

There is a clinical measure of symptom progression and the resultant disability called: Expanded Disability Status Scale or EDSS. It is a method of quantifying MS according to disability. This allows neurologists to assign a Functional System Score (FSS) There are eight Functional Systems (FS), they are: bowel and bladder, brainstem, cerebral, cerebellar, pyramidal, sensory, visual, and other.

Most people who have MS have periods where they are symptom free or their symptoms are so mild that they do not interfere with daily function. Periods of relatively good health are referred to as being in remission. Flare-ups of symptoms after being in remission are called relapses. MS usually worsens slowly over time, so symptoms will become progressively worse and the number of symptoms will increase as well. The function of a person with MS deteriorates over time. The goal of treatment is to relieve symptoms and to maintain an improved quality of life for as long as possible.

Symptoms vary from one person with MS to another. No two persons with MS will follow the same course of the disease. This is because we have different types of nerve fibers in our body and each person with MS may be experiencing different nerve fiber damage. There are sensory symptoms that result from nerve fibers being damaged that carry sensory information. There are motor symptoms from nerve fibers being damaged that carry signals to muscles. The damage can be repaired by the body, only to be damaged again. The body is constantly in a state of damage and repair. MS unfortunately is a losing battle for the body as it is a progressive disease. There is no way to predict the course of the symptoms. Remissions may last for month’s even years. Relapses can occur spontaneously or they can be triggered by infection such as flu, high weather temperatures, a hot bath or shower, or a fever.

There are two progressive patterns that symptoms can take in MS. The first progressive pattern is called the primary progressive pattern, where the disease progresses gradually with no remissions. There may be temporary plateaus during the disease in which there is no progression. The secondary progressive pattern begins with relapses that alternate with remissions, and then is followed by gradual, progression that is interrupted by sudden relapses. This secondary progressive pattern is rare. Very rarely does MS progress quickly, it is normally a very slowly progressing disease.

It is common for individual to show the following early signs of MS before a diagnosis has been made:

Tingling, numbness, pain, burning or itching felt in the limbs (arms, legs), or the trunk and also the face.

Loss of muscle strength

Loss of dexterity in a leg or a hand

Feelings of unusual tiredness

Mood swings

Inappropriate giddiness

Euphoria

Depression

Apathy

Memory disturbances

Causes Of Headaches

Your head hurts. Your eyes hurt. Perhaps you’ve been sitting at your computer for too many hours, staring at pixels until you’re sure your retinas are permanently damaged. As you work your way home after work you can feel the tightness in your neck. You try to stretch it out, moving your head from side to side and rubbing the back of your neck where the tension of the day seems to have taken up permanent residence.

Congratulations, you’ve got another tension headache. Tension headaches are the most common headaches suffered. They cause a slight to moderate pain all over the head and some have described the feeling as one of having a tight band around their head. Although some headache pain can be intense, it’s not usually caused by some underlying medical issue

Our lives are busier than ever these days. We work harder, we work longer, we skip breaks and eat lunch at our desks. We’re tethered to so many electronic leashes for so many hours of day that we don’t get much down time. The result of all this stress? Fatigue, burnout and lots and lots of headaches.

Usually popping a few Excedrin or Ibuprofen helps relieve the nagging pain of a tension headache. Sometimes putting a heating pad on the back of your neck helps, as do some relaxation techniques that can be practiced easily.

If you are suffering from headaches several times a month and they last for several hours or even days, if they disrupt your life, if they give you nausea, vomiting or you have visual difficulties, then you should consult your doctor right away. Your headaches might not be simple tension headaches—they could be migraines. You’ll want to discuss many things with your doctor and it’s a good idea to write down a list of things you know about your headaches and their patterns. You’ll need to tell your doctor how often you have your headaches, where your pain is, how long they last, when they happen (sometimes they can occur more often during your menstrual cycle), the symptoms you get along with the headache and if you have a family history of migraines.

Be prepared for a physical exam that may include bloodwork in order to rule out other issues you may be having.

Headaches are no fun, but there are ways to alleviate the pain and reduce their frequency. Talk to your doctor and get some help

What Is Chagas Disease

Chagas disease is found in central and south America. It’s an inflammatory disease caused by a parasite and is spread through the excrement of the reduvid bug that has been infected with it. Also called the American form of Trypanosomiasis, Chagas disease develops in two phases – the acute phase in which the disease causes mild symptoms and the chronic phase which causes serious health repercussions to the heart and other body functions.

Cause of Chagas Disease

The trypanosome cruzi parasite is the guilty party which inhabits the reduvid bug. It picks up the parasite from biting and digesting blood from an infected animal. From there, the disease can be passed to humans. Because these reduvid bugs live in the mud as well as adobe and thatch huts which are made from the mud they live. Therefore, the bugs become a part of the dwelling itself and come out at night to get their blood meal from humans.

As the bug bites, they eliminate feces which contain the parasites that cause Chagas disease. These parasites can migrate into the body in a variety of ways such as through a break in the skin, and mucosal areas like the eyes, nose and mouth. Scratching a bug bite can also help the parasites as well. Other ways you could become infected include eating food which is contaminated with the excrement from the reduvid bug, receiving infected blood or even an organ transplant.

Symptoms Of Mesothelioma

Asbestos, a naturally occurring mineral in the earth, has been the major cause of mesothelioma. The majority of the people who have been exposed to asbestos fibers have been in the military, or factory work, or involved in companies that manufactured insulation for buildings. Asbestos has already been outlawed in most industrialized countries, but its effects are still being felt today in those who have most likely inhaled it while working. It is these people who will be most likely to exhibit symptoms of mesothelioma.

What are the symptoms of mesothelioma ? Symptoms can include chest pain or abdominal pain as well as swelling of the abdomen, shortness of breath, inability to eliminate, abnormal blood clotting activity, anemia and fever. This disease has the ability to lie dormant for many years before any symptoms are shown, perhaps even up to fifty years. Some other symptoms of mesothelioma include chronic cough, getting the same infections such as bronchitis and pneumonia constantly, pain of the bones, swelling of the neck or face, and jaundice. While having just one or two of the things on this list will not automatically mean you have mesothelioma, nevertheless these could be warning signs.
